Making the Transition

Light rain fell from a dark sky. The University of Oregon ultimate team, Fugue, began their Sunday morning practice. Cutter Owen Clifton was among the group. 

In February 2020, Clifton began his transition from female to male. He had to quit playing for Fugue because of the strict gender identity rules put forward. 

Transgender athletes have been under attack by politicians, sports entities and many others. But, in December 2020, USA Ultimate passed a new policy. It allowed Clifton to keep playing where he felt most comfortable.
